A Belgian pilot who joined the Royal Air Force, he is credited with 6 victories in World War Two. He flew the Typhoon with No.609 Sqn and became the squadron's Commanding Officer in 1944. Shot down that September, he was badly injured but survived. After recovering, he flew as the Commanding Officer of No.349 Sqn flying Spitfires. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Bar.
