It was one of the fastest operational aircraft in the world, one of the most envied - and one of the most feared. Built almost entirely of wood and assembled by carpenters, the beautifully streamlined de Havilland Mosquito, or Wooden Wonder was a triumph of ingenuity at a time when resources of light alloys were in short supply. Its greatest attribute was speed. Powered by two phenomenal Rolls-Royce Merlin engines, the Mosquito became the finest multi-role combat aircraft of World War II. No other Allied military aircraft was built in so many versions for so many roles - a fast bomber which could carry a huge 4,000lb payload; a day or night fighter; a fighter-bomber; trainer; torpedo bomber; photo reconnaissance aircraft; maritime strike aircraft and U-boat hunter were just some of the 43 different variants produced during a long and distinguished career. | Eric joined the RAF in 1940 and trained as an Observer. Commissioned in 1941 he would be posted to 12 Squadron in 1942 flying Wellingtons. On his 10th Operation in February of that year his Wellington would be shot down over Denmark. Fortunately all 5 of the crew bailed out safely and would become POWs. Eric was initially sent to Oflag IX-A/H at Spangenberg before being moved to the infamous Stalag Luft III some 3 months later. He would remain here until 1945 and witness the aftermath of the Gre |

| A Pilot, he flew 30 operations in Halifaxes and then 14 missions as a Pathfinder to Berlin in Mosquitoes. He passed away on the 29th of April 2024 at age 100. |

| Having joined the RAF in 1943 on a direct entry commssion, George Prichard was posted from Tech Signals Radar (Air) Branch to 151 Night Fighter Squadron on Mosquitos. He supported action on D-Day and across Europe throughout the Normandy campaign, also maintaining and diagnosing crucial radar equipment. He later moved to Tiger Force to fly against the Japanese from bases in Okinawa. |

| Flying Officer Jack Youens went to Gravesend Sea School in 1938 and was on the SS Sacramento as a 16 year old in British Columbia when the 2nd World War broke out. Jack Youens joind the RAF, Bicester O.T.U in July 26th 1944 on Mosquito Conversion, until September 10 1944 along with F/o Scott, F/o Hall, F/o Binnie, F/Lt King, and a F/o Cummimngs who were also there at that time. Whilst there his younger brother Lawrance Youens was killed in action wile serving as a Navigator on Pathfinder Mosqu |
