Joined the Royal New Zealand Air Force in 1941, joining No.108 Sqn flying the Wellington in 1942. He completed a tour in the Western Desert then flew a second tour on Lancasters with No.49 Sqn, ending the war having flown 47 operations. He later flew Dakotas and Liberators with RAF Transport Command.

Robert Souter joined the Royal New Zealand Air Force in February 1941, and after training was posted in 1942 to the Middle East, joining No.108 Squadron then flying Wellingtons. Unmissable Chance by Ivan Berryman. 		At 0154am, Pilot officer Les Knight in Avro Lancaster AJ-N transmitted the codeword Dinghy, the signal that the Eder Dam had been successfully breached. Although the target was undefended by flak, its location made it extremely difficult to hit. In fact, four of the five aircraft involved in the attack failed in their attempts and Knight's was the last available aircraft carrying the last available bomb!

Safely Home by Nicolas Trudgian. 		Crew of Lancasters 101 Squadron RAF, stand chatting and drinking cups of tea supplied by the WMCA vans. Delays in Ops for an hour or so allow the crews a chance to light up and have a cup of tea. 101 Squadron based at Ludford Magna were a squadron with a difference, from 1943 the Lancasters were fitted with special radio jamming equipment known as ABC or AirBorne Cigar and carried an eighth crew member known as the special duties operator. Squadron letters were SR and targeted by the Luftwaffe fighters giving 101 Squadron the highest casualty rating in Bomber Command.
