On the morning of April 18th, 1942, just four months following the devastating surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, sixteen Army Air Force B-25 bombers under the command of Lieutenant Colonel James Doolittle engaged in a daring aerial raid to strike back at the enemy's capital of Tokyo. For his role, Doolittle was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
Doolittle Tokyo Raiders by Robert Taylor. 		A pilot in the Army Air Corps, he was the pilot of the second B-25 Mitchell bomber to leave the USS Hornet for the famed Doolittle Raid on Tokyo. He crash landed in Japanese occupied China, but thanks to a Chinese student, they escaped back to America. Later in the war he flew the Mitchell and B-24 Liberator in England and also the P-38 Lightning. Post-war he stayed in the Air Force, retiring in 1969. He died in 2004. <br><br><b>Please note that this particular signature has been written in pen - not in pencil like most of our signatures.</b><br>

Tokyo Raid, Doolittles B25 Launch from USS Hornet by Ivan Berryman 		Aircraft number 2247, flown by Lt McElroy, attacks the Yokosuka Yard near Tokyo. He was one of the 18 B25 Mitchell bombers which took part in the famous retaliatory raid on Japan.
