Clipped Signature - Don Redman.

Don Redman was a signalman on HMS Amethyst at the time of the famed Yangtze Incident. He was on the bridge of the ship when a Chinese shell burst, killing nearly everyone on the bridge. Don was himself seriously wounded, and his life was saved by an RAF doctor (Michael Fearnley) who was flown in aboard a Sunderland flying boat. We know Don Redman died sometime between the years 2000 and 2011.

HMS Amethyst about to return fire while a Sunderland of 88 Squadron makes a hurried departure, 23rd of April 1949. <br><i>This edition is signed by world famous actor Richard Todd, who played the part of Lieutenant Commander John Kerans in the film. Kerans took command of the ship after the bridge was hit by a Chinese shell, killing the Captain. He led the night-time escape from the Yangtse River.</i>

Yangtse Incident by Timothy OBrien. 		Jack French was telegraphist on HMS Amethyst during the famous Yangtse Incident. The ship spent many days under intense fire from the Chinese as it navigated out of the river. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for devotion to duty. He died in 2011.

Yangtse Incident by Timothy OBrien.		 He was part of the crew of a No.88 Sqn Sunderland flying boat which went to the aid of HMS Amethyst during the Yangtze Incident in 1949. Over three days they landed a doctor and medical aid to the ship under a heavy barrage of fire - the aircraft was hit several times and damaged but remained airworthy.
