The Black watch are shown clambering over a large ditch and onto the Ramparts against a 5 gun redoubt heavily defended.

Tel El Kibir by Alphonse de Neuville.		After taking horrendous casualties during the infamous charge, the 17th lancers were the first to reach the Russian guns at the end of the Valley. From the 673 men who started the charge, 113 men were killed and many others wounded. The Light Brigade was made up of the 4th and 13th Light Dragoons, 8th and 11th Hussars and the 17th Lancers. A spectating French officer, General Pierre Bosquet proclaimed - It is magnificent but it is not war.

Charge of the 17th Lancers at the Battle of the Balaclava by Brian Palmer. 		Depicting Lord Cardigan (centre figure) amongst the Russian guns with the 13th Light Dragoons and 17th Lancers, other regiments in the charge of the Light Brigade were, 11th Hussars, 4th Light Dragoons and the 8th Hussars during the Battle of Balaclava in the Crimean War.
