Chief of the 8./Panzer-Regiment 2, he took part in the Battle of France, Second Battle of Kharkov, Operation Winter Storm, Dnieper-Carpathian Offensive, First Jassy-Kishinev Offensive, and Operation Spring Awakening. He received the Knights Cross for actions on 28th December 1943. He was also a recipient of the Panzer Badge and German Cross in Gold. Later, a member of the Bundeswehr from 1959 to 1972. Died in 2013. |
  Oberstleutnant Alfred Rubbel (deceased) Died : 2013 *Signature Value : £60 Editions signed : Alfred Rubbel Knights Cross signature edition of 25 prints, from the signed limited edition of 1150 prints. | Rubbel, Alfred (Oberstleutnant Alfred Rubbel (deceased)) Alfred Rubbel was born in Tilsit on June 28, 1921, and volunteered for the Wehrmacht at the age of eighteen. After his basic training in the infantry replacement regiment 21 and his transfer to the armoured weapon, Alfred Rubbel began the Russian campaign on 22nd June 1942 in the 9th Panzer Regiment 29 of the 12th Panzer Division. First as a charge guard in the chief battalion, then as a guardsman, he experienced the rapid advance of the Army Group to the east. In the fighting around Leningrad on September 3rd, 1941, wounded by grenade splinters, he was transferred to the homeland. In January 1942 he returned to his unit, he took part in the fighting at the Volkhov. After refreshing and rebuilding his company in Silesia, he returned to Panzer Regiment 4 with the long-handled cannon to the Eastern Front. As an unofficial and tank commander, his path led him on a long Panzer raid to the West Caucasus, where the battles in Eastern Caucasus were connected between September and December 1942. In December 1942, he and his comrades in Putlos and Paderborn began the conversion to Panzer VI Tiger. Went to 503th Panzer Division 503, and set in the railway transport in the direction of Rostov, he took part in the retreat to the Dnieper and the battle for the Kessel of Cherkassy as a Panzer commander at Operation Zitadelle, the largest tank battle of the Second World War. After officers' training courses in Ohrdruf and Krampnitz in December 1944, he moved to the 3rd Panzer Division 503, he fought in the King (Tiger II) in Hungary and Austria. At the end of the war, lieutenant of the reserve Alfred Rubbel can look back on a total balance of 57 tank victories in 79 Panzer battles on 81 deployments in the tank and 41 months on the front. He was awarded the Iron Cross I and II. Rubbel was a close friend of Kurt Knispel, a fellow tank commander of Pz Abt 503 and top-scoring Panzer Ace. |
  Erwin Kressmann (deceased) Died : 2017 *Signature Value : £55 Editions signed : Erwin Kressmann Knights Cross signature series edition of 20 prints (Nos 621 - 640) from the signed limited edition of 1150 prints. | Kressmann, Erwin (Erwin Kressmann (deceased)) Erwin Kressman fought in the assault on Poland as company commander and Platoon leader. He was also invovled in the Western campaign and was promoted to Staff Sergeant. In June 1941 he was transferred to Russia and saw action in the Demjansk pocket and in May 1942, Kressmann was sent to the Crimea with Panzerjaeger Abt. Kressmann participated in the assault on Sevastopol. He was sent to the northern Russian front - the Battle of Leningrad as well as trench warfare at the Wolchow. In July 1943, Kressmann became the commander of 1st company of the new heavy Panzerjaeger Abteilung 519, From December 13th to February 18th, 1944, Kressmann was part of two Battles of Witebsk under the 3rd Panzerarmee. Kressmann was decorated with the German Cross in Gold for bravery on January 25, 1944. On June 22, 1944 Kressman was involved in the third battle of Witebek, his unit sustaining very heavy casualties. Kressman got the Knight's cross for actions in Schmidt and Kommerscheidt from November 4th to November 7th, 1944. Kressmann also fought in the Battle of the Bulge. At the beginning of May 1945 and after he destroyed two T-34 Russian tanks with T-mines, Kresmmann was severely wounded by mortar. He was able to cross the Elbe river and became a US P.O.W. He died on 19th March 2017. |

Staying with this elite unit in France during the Allied invasion he fought throughout the Normandy campaign, on D-Day, at Falaise and was eventually taken PoW. He died on 8th December 2015. |
  Oberst Eberhard Stephan (deceased) Died : 2008 *Signature Value : £60 Editions signed : Presentation edition of 2 prints. | Stephan, Eberhard (Oberst Eberhard Stephan (deceased)) After serving in the Polish and French campaigns, Eberhard Stephan joined the 14th Panzer Division in 1941. In Russia he led his tanks to the Caucasus, and led one of the Panzer groups trying to break through to Stalingrad. With the 5th Panzer Division he took part in the biggest tank battle in history at Kursk. He was a commander in the 116th Panzer Division during the D-Day invasion: he fought at Caen, and the Battle of Arnhem. In the Ardennes Offensive, he led a crack unit of the 5th Panzer Army, and was awarded the Knight's Cross. He was one of the leading Panzer Commanders of World War II. Sadly he died on 22nd October 2008. |
