Two Lynx helicopters of the Army Air Corps providing cover for a lone RAF Merlin high over the Helmand river in Afghanistan.

Tribute to the crew of Lynx Helicopters of the Army Air Corps by Graeme Lothian. 		Reformed in November 2000, 99 Squadron, based at Brize Norton, is now the operator of the RAF's new heavy transport, the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III, an example of which is shown on the newly extended concrete runway at Camp Bastion in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. The C-17s have become the mainstay of the RAF's supply train, shuttling between the UK and Afghanistan, as well as providing specialist aeromedical evacuation and humanitarian relief duties.

Musa Qaleh Wadi by Graeme Lothian. 		The Medical Emergency Responce Team (MERT) picking up a casualty in Helmind Province, Afghanistan. The armour plated RAF Chinook, protected by two Army Air Corps Apache helicopters, has a full complement of medical trauma personel onboard, as well as a protection force of RAF Regiment soldiers.
