The Handley Page Victor was developed and produced by the Handley Page Aircraft Company, which served during the Cold War. It was the third and final of the V-bombers operated by the Royal Air Force , the other two V-bombers being the Avro Vulcan and the Vickers Valiant. The Victor had been developed to perform as part of the United Kingdom's airborne nuclear deterrent. The Victor was the last of the V-bombers to be retired, the final aircraft being removed from service on 15th October 1993. In its refuelling role, the type had been replaced by the Vickers VC10 and the Lockheed Tristar.

Victor by Keith Aspinall. 		Sorely missed on the air display circuit, this Vulcan is pictured flying high over Niagara Falls. Used as a heavy bomber and particularly in the Falklands War of 1982, just the sound of the engines and the vibrations of the ground announced its arrival. Rumour had it that this magnificent aircraft might make a return at some time to the air display scene but this seems to be increasingly unlikely as time passes.

Lone Ranger by John Young. 		The longest ever bombing mission, 30th April - 1st May 1982. Vulcan B2 XM607 of 44 sqn prepares to refuel from Victor K2 XH672 of 57 sqn on its return from bombing Port Stanley Airport on the Falklands.

Black Buck One by Keith Woodcock. 		The Handley Page Victor played a significant role in the Falklands conflict of 1982 and in the Gulf War of 1991.The final flight by an RAF Victor was made in November 1993 when XH672 Maid Marian flew from its RAF Marham base destined for the RAF Museum at Cosford. After three decades of front-line Squadron service with the Royal Air Force, two wars, and over 40 years since their conception, thc last of the V-bombers has retired.
