American Volunteer Group Colours and Markings.

The American Volunteer Group, or Flying Tigers, have remained the most famous outfit to see action in World War II. Manned by volunteers flying American aircraft acquired from the British, the AVG fought bravely in the face of overwhelming odds in China and Burma prior to the US entry into World War II. Pilots such as Pappy Boyington, R T Smith and John Petach became household names due to their exploits against the Japanese Army Air Force. The AVG legend was created flying the Curtis P-40 Tomahawk and Kittyhawk. This volume dispels the myths surrounding the colours and markings worn by these famous fighters.

A legend of the American Volunteer Group, he was credited with 10.5 victories flying the Mustang before it was disbanded. He then joined the 23rd Fighter Group and scored 18.25 victories by the end of the war. After the war he became a prominent superior court judge. He died in 2006.

Clipped Signature - Chuck Older.		 One of America's best known Aces, 'Tex' Hill scored his first victories in 1942 with the American Volunteer Group (AVG) known as the Flying Tigers. In his P-40 Warhawk, he was credited with 12 and a quarter victories while flying in aid of the Chinese against the Japanese, including the Ki.27 'Nate' depicted here. After the AVG was disbanded, he scored 6 more victories flying P-51 Mustangs with the USAAF. Tex Hill died in 2007 aged 92.

Tribute to David Lee 'Tex' Hill by Ivan Berryman. 		P-40s of the AVG Flying Tigers 3rd Pursuit Squadron - Hell's Angels - surprise the enemy with a deadly strafing attack on a Japanese forward air-base in China, summer 1942. With their Allison engines screaming at full throttle, AVG Aces Tommy Haywood and Robert Smith, lead the charge as the Hell's Angels leave a trail of havoc and destruction behind them. Robert Taylor has created a masterpiece to honor the Flying Tigers and the release is autographed by legendary Aces including four of the AVG's most respected pilots who, since signing, have sadly passed away, giving even greater meaning to this edition.
