A pair of 238 Squadron Hawker Hurricane fighters at the height of the Battle of Britain patrol the southern counties. The Hurricane is sometimes overlooked for its important role in the Battle of Britain. During the Battle 238 Squadron losses would be 17, the third highest for Royal Air Force squadrons which participated in the Battle of Britain.

Tom Dalton-Morgan was a British flying Ace who was credited with at least 17 victories during World War Two. It was in the aircraft shown here, Hurricane Mk.I P3972 of No.43 Sqn that on 13th August 1940 he claimed a Ju88 but was struck by return fire, baling out of the stricken Hurricane. He became an Ace during the Battle of Britain and later also became a Hurricane night-fighter Ace, claiming six victories. Awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Distinguished Service Order and Order of the British Empire, he went on to manage the Woomera rocket testing facility in Australia for 30 years. He died in 2004, aged 87.

Can Openers by David Pentland. 		Frank Carey, depicted here in his Hurricane of No.43 Squadron, was one of Britain's top Aces of the war. He scored over 20 confirmed victories as well as several shared or probable claims - these were in Europe during the Battle of France and Battle of Britain, but also later in the war in the east against the Japanese during their invasion of Burma. He was awarded a CBE in addition to his Distinguished Flying Cross with two bars, Distinguished Flying Medal and Air Force Cross.

Tribute to Frank Carey by Ivan Berryman. 		Squadron Leader Douglas Bader leads the Hurricanes of 242 Squadron in an aggressive diving attack upon a large force of Heinkel 111s approaching the Kent coast, whilst Spitfires from 66 Squadron tangle with the escorting Bf109s of JG52. It is September 1940, and the climax of the Battle of Britain. Throughout those critical months in 1940, the RAF engaged opposing pilots of the Luftwaffe time and time again and this atmospheric new painting depicts one such frantic engagement as one of the most legendary fighter Aces of the war, Douglas Bader leads his unit into battle.
