Clipped Signature - Wilfred Sizer.

Flew Gauntlets with No.17 Sqn and Hurricanes with No.213 Sqn at the outbreak of World War Two. He scored victories and was shot down in the Battle of France and increased his tally during the Battle of Britain. Later he flew Spitfires in North Africa with No.152 Sqn and commanded No.93 Sqn. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Bar and scored 7 victories plus 5 shared. He died in 2006.

Born on 23rd February 1920, at the outbreak of war Bill Sizer was flying Hurricanes with 213 Squadron, after flying Guantlets with No.17 Squadron. The squadron flew to France in May 1940, where he scored his first victories, before being attacked by five Me109s and shot down. Rejoining his squadron soon after, he took part in the air battles over Dunkirk before again being shot down and escaping back to England. He flew throughout the Battle of Britain. The lone Spitfire of Maurice <i>Peter</i> Brown of No.41 Sqn, single-handedly attacks a group of eight Me109s on 25th October 1940.

Into the Schwarm by Ivan Berryman. 		Two Spitfire Mk1Bs of 92 Squadron patrol the south coast from their temporary base at Ford, here passing over the Needles rocks, Isle of Wight, in the Spring of 1942.

In Them We Trust by Ivan Berryman. 		Joined the RAFVR in April 1939 and was called up on the outbreak of war. He flew Blenheims during the Battle of Britain with No.29 Sqn from July 1940, and joined No.89 Sqn flying Beaufighters a year later. In autumn 1942 he was no longer allowed to fly due to medical reasons and took on a number of ground roles until leaving the RAF in 1946. He died in January 2000. <br><br><b>Please note that this particular signature has been written in pen - not in pencil like most of our signatures.</b><br>

Clipped Signature - Donald Anderson.		 Summer 1940: it has been another rough day for the sasoned pilots of JG-26 Schlageter. Once again they have flown out of their base at Abbeville in northern France to escort the massed bombers of the Luftwaffe against the RAFs fighter airfields of southern England, and once again they have been locked in deadly combat with the Spitfires and Hurricanes of RAF Fighter Command. The Battle of Britain is reaching its climax and, for the first time, the Luftwaffe tastes defeat. This painting by Anthony Saunders brings to life a typical cameo from those long and arduous aerial contests, an Me109 from JG-26 has taken a hit during the fighting, the engine is overheating, and beginning to trail smoke. But the Squadron Commander, the legendary Adolf Galland, closes in to escort the stricken fighter back across the Channel. Crossing the iconic white cliffs of Dover, the drama has time to run.

Based at Exeter, on the 11th of August, he shot down a Ju88, and the next day he shot down a fighter escorting a large formation of bombers. As the attacks intensified, the pilots of 213 Sqn fle wup to four patrols a day. On the 15th of August he shot down two Ju87 Stukas. He also shared in the destruction of a Ju88 in October 1940, bringing it down over Beachy Head. He was awarded the DFC for scoring 7 and 5 shared victories. In April 1941 he was posted to join 1 Squadron, and then 91 Squadron. In April 1942 he joined 152 Squadron flying Spitfires, with whom he went to North Africa. In January 1943 he was given command of 93 Squadron and took part in the Sicily landings. While leading 93 Squadron he shot down two Italian fighters and damaged several others. He was awarded a Bar to the DFC. He finished the war with 7 and 5 shared victories. He died 22nd December 2006.
