John Shellard flew Typhoons with No.263 Sqn, claiming a share of a victory over an Me262 jet in April 1944 while on a ground attack mission.

Clipped alongside the signature of David Ince - David Ince trained on Hurricanes and Mustangs before flying Typhoons with No.193 Sqn and No.257 Sqn. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross after completing almost 150 sorties. Post war he completed an engineering degree. He died aged 96 in 2017.

Flt. Lt. David Ince DFC was born in Glasgow and was educated at Aysgarth School and Cheltenham College. Failing to meet the eyesight standards for aircrew he became a gunner officer in 1940 and managed to pass a wartime RAF medical board at his third attempt. Seconded for Army Cooperation duties, he trained in Canada at 35 EFTS and 37 SFTS before returning to the UK to fly Hurricanes and Mustangs at 41 OTU. Subsequently converting to Typhoons he flew with 193 and 257 Squadrons, from Normandy unt

Battle of Britain Spitfire Mk 1a, P7350 from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, flies in tight formation with the first production Eurofighter single seater F2.
Typhoon Legacy by Michael Rondot. 		The success of Operation Bodenplatte, on January 1, 1945, was to be achieved by mass surprise attacks on British and American bases in France, Belgium and Holland. It was a battle fought at great cost to the Luftwaffe. During the battles some 300 Luftwaffe aircraft were lost. Though 200 Allied aircraft were destroyed, most on the ground, pilot losses were light. Nicolas Trudgians brilliant painting takes us right into the action above the Allied air base at Eindhoven. Me262 jets join a concentration of Me109s and Fw190s of JG-3 fighter wing, as they hurtle across the airfield in an assault that lasted 23 minutes, while Spitfires from 414 Sqn RCAF do their best to repel the attack. On the ground Typhoon fighters of 439 Sqn take a hammering.

Operation Bodenplatte by Nicolas Trudgian. 		An engineer, he joined Hawker aircraft in 1938. He solved important problems during World War Two with the Typhoon and Tempest aircraft, improving them and laying the groundwork for future aircraft design. Joining English Electric, he was instrumental in the design of both the Canberra and Lightning aircraft. Latterly he became Chairman and Chief Executive of British Aerospace from 1977 until he reired in 1982. He died in 2005. <br><br><b>Please note that this particular signature has been written in pen - not in pencil like most of our signatures.</b><br>

Clipped Signature - Sir Frederick Page.		A fighter pilot who had flown Hurricanes and Spitfires, he joined No.245 Sqn flying rocket-equipped Typhoons in the build up to D-Day. He then specialised in tank-busting during the Normandy campaign, and later wrote best-selling books about his experiences. He died in 2000.

Subsequently converting to Typhoons he flew with 193 and 257 Squadrons, from Normandy until the end of hostilities in Europe, completing almost 150 sorties and being awarded an immediate DFC. He took a leading part in trials, demonstrations and the early operational use of Napalm. Almost shot down on one reconnaissance flight, he later devised and proved a camera installation for low level close up target photography, which was an immediate success. In the closing stages of the war he was leading 193 Squadron on shipping strikes in the Baltic. After attending the first post war course at The Empire Test Pilots School he returned to University to complete an engineering degree. He died in Winchester, Hampshire aged 96 on 2nd August 2017.
