Flew Hurricanes with No.253 Sqn during the Battle of Britain, claiming an Me110 and Do17 before being shot down twice during dogfights at the height of the battle. He was commissioned in 1941 and served with No.185 Sqn in Malta, retiring in 1961 as a Squadron Leader. He died in 2005.

Born on June 15th 1918, Innes joined the RAFVR about August 1938 as an Airman under training Pilot. Called up on September 1st 1939 he completed his training at No 10 FTS Fern Hill from November 5th 1939 to early May 1940. Bob Innes was then posted to 253 (F) Squadron on Hurricanes at Kenley on May 6th 1940. He claimed a Bf110 destroyed on August 30th and on September 15th shot down a Dornier Do17 of 8/KG2. Bob Innes crashed in Hurricane V6736 on September 20th 1940 following an attack by Bf1

Squadron Leader H C Sawyer is depicted here flying his 65 Sqn Spitfire Mk.1a R6799 (YT-D) in the skies above Kent on 31st July 1940 at the height of the Battle of Britain. Chasing him is Major Hans Trubenbach of 1 Gruppe, Lehrgeschwader 2 in his Messerschmitt Vf109E-3 (Red 12) . The encounter lasted eight minutes with both pilots surviving.

High Pursuit by Ivan Berryman. 		Depicting Spitfires of No.92 Squadron, which on their first mission over Dunkirk, encountered six ME109Es and succeeded in shooting down every one of them! Such actions came to symbolise the spirit of the 92nd Squadron which went on to see intense fighting during the Battle of Britain and by the end of 1940 had claimed an astonishing 127 enemy aircraft destroyed. A dramatic and unusual perspective on this classic aeroplane addition to any collection of Spitfire paintings.

The Hunting Party by Ivan Berryman. 		Mickey Mount - Joined No.602 Sqn flying Spitfires against the Luftwaffe at the height of the Battle of Britain. He served throughout the war, also flying Hurricanes in Malta and Wellingtons in the Middle East. He died in 2002. <br><i>Clipped together with 3 other signatures : </i><br><br>Hugh Niven - Flew Spitfires with No.602 Sqn during the Battle of Britain and was still with the squadron when he was invalided out of the RAF with tuberculosis in 1942. He died in 2008. <br><br>Hector MacLean - Spitfire pilot with No.602 Sqn during the Battle of Britain, a severe leg injury sustained in combat on 26th August 1940 ended his role as a pilot - he instead became a Fighter Controller on the ground. He died in 2007.<br><br>Stuart Nigel Rose - A Spitfire pilot with No.602 Sqn throughout the Battle of Britain, he claimed 3 victories. Later posted to No.54 Sqn and various training units. He died in 2017.

Clipped Signature - Mickey Mount.		A pair of 238 Squadron Hawker Hurricane fighters at the height of the Battle of Britain patrol the southern counties. The Hurricane is sometimes overlooked for its important role in the Battle of Britain. During the Battle 238 Squadron losses would be 17, the third highest for Royal Air Force squadrons which participated in the Battle of Britain.

Bob Innes crashed in Hurricane V6736 on September 20th 1940 following an attack by Bf109s over Maidstone. He crashed again during an interception patrol on October 11th at Staplehurst in Kent, whilst flying Hurricane L1666 (force landing). He probably destroyed a Bf109 off the coast of Essex on November 11th 1940. Commissioned in March 1941 - Bob Innes served in Malta and retired from the RAF on August 31st 1961 as a Squadron Leader. Bob sadly passed away on April 6th 2005.
