 Joined the RAF as ground crew in 1931, but completed his pilot training in 1936.  He flew with No.41 Sqn, and claimed an He111 in October 1939.  During the Battle of Britain he claimed an Me110 and He111 in August before becoming an instructor. He stayed with the RAF until retirement in 1959.  He died in 1998. <br><br><b>Please note that this particular signature has been written in pen - not in pencil like most of our signatures.</b><br>

Clipped Signature - Edward Shipman.
 Flew Hurricanes with No.253 Sqn during the Battle of Britain, claiming an Me110 and Do17 before being shot down twice during dogfights at the height of the battle.  He was commissioned in 1941 and served with No.185 Sqn in Malta, retiring in 1961 as a Squadron Leader.  He died in 2005.

Spitfires Over Kent by Graeme Lothian.
 Depicting the No.19 Sqn Spitfire Mk.IIA of Flt Lt Walter Lawson attacking a Bf.109 E-4 of JG.3 in the Summer of 1940. The final tally of Lawson before he was listed as missing in August 1941 was 6 confirmed, 1 shared, 3 probables and 1 damaged.  The Bf.109 shown here was flown by Oberleutnant Franz von Werra. He survived this encounter, but was shot down over Kent in September 1940.
