Joining the Royal Navy in 1927, he served on HMS Valiant, HMS Warspite, HMS Hawkins, HMS Sardonyx and HMS Danae before World War Two. Qualifying as a naval aviator, he then served on HMS Glorious as an Observer in Swordfish aircraft. In the Battle of Britain, his No.826 Naval Air Squadron was under RAF control and in 1941 he joined HMS Formidable in the Western Mediterranean. He was on HMS Furious in 1942 for the relief of Malta. Post war he had senior positions including command of HMS Aisne and HMS Diamond, retiring in 1965. He died in 1999. <br><br><b>Please note that this particular signature has been written in pen - not in pencil like most of our signatures.</b><br>

Engage by Randall Wilson. 		Mitsubishi G4Ms of 27 Kanoya Kokutai begin their devastating attack on Force Z off the north east coast of Malaya on 10th December 1941. Both Repulse and prince of Wales were lost in the attack, while their accompanying destroyers remained to pick up survivors among them HMS Express which can be seen off HMS Repulse starboard quarter.
